ODM, private label or ready stock: which way to source lingerie.
Choose ODM development when the design is yours and new; private label when one of a factory’s existing styles already fits your range; ready stock when you want to test a range or restock quickly. Many brands use all three: ready stock to test, private label to build a range, ODM for signature pieces.

| Best for | New brands and new collections | Retailers launching an own label | Testing a range and restocking |
ODM development
You own the idea; the factory turns it into a pattern, a fit-approved sample and a graded size set, then produces it. It costs more time and a sampling fee, but the style is exclusive to your range. See From sketch to bulk for the steps and timings.
Private label
You pick finished styles from the factory’s range and sell them under your brand, with your woven or printed labels, hangtags and packaging. Fabrics and colours can be adapted. It is the quickest way to launch a full range without development costs, but other buyers may sell similar styles.
Ready stock
You buy what is already made and in the warehouse, mixing styles and sizes. It is the lowest-risk way to see what sells before committing to minimums.
A common path for a new brand
- Order a mixed ready-stock selection to test what sells in your market.
- Put the best sellers under your own label as private label.
- Develop two or three signature styles with the pattern room once the range is established.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask.
What is the difference between ODM and OEM?
In OEM the buyer brings a finished design and specification; in ODM the factory also contributes design and pattern work. Our pattern room does both.
Is a private-label style exclusive to me?
Not by default. Exclusivity is agreed style by style.
Can I move a ready-stock style to private label later?
Yes. Any style in our range can carry your labels.
